Privacy policy
Effective date: October 24, 2026.
App: Workplace Korean: Learn Korean, also referred to as Practical Workplace Korean or 한국일터. Android package: com.minororbit.workplacekorean. Developer/support contact: davidleepub@gmail.com. This policy applies only to this app.
1. Learning without an account
The app provides bundled Korean lessons, optional Hangul basics, quizzes, saved-expression review and activity badges. It does not require a user account or operate a developer learning-data server. The developer does not receive your local learning history through an analytics or crash-reporting backend. Advertising, Android speech services, backup services and websites you open can process information separately, as explained below.
2. Records on your device
The app stores lesson and saved-expression identifiers, learning positions, completion counts and dates, answers/progress used for practice, review records, learning/review days, language and voice preferences, audio speed, automatic playback and helper preferences. It also stores local advertising-reward unlocks, ad-pause timing and helper greeting/rotation records. Older installations may retain a legacy daily-goal preference; the current settings screen no longer offers that feature.
The app-introduction badge records opening Android’s share sheet, not whether a message was sent or whom it reached. These records are held in the app’s private database or preferences and used for learning, resuming, settings and rewards. They are not uploaded to a developer learning server.
3. Optional microphone practice
The app asks for microphone permission when you choose to record speaking practice. You may decline and use other learning features. Recordings are kept in the app’s private recordings folder so you can listen to yourself. Recording again for the same practice item replaces that item’s previous audio.
The app does not upload recordings to the developer, advertising SDK or an AI service. It does not perform speech recognition or automated pronunciation scoring. Avoid recording others without their permission. This version has no dedicated recording-deletion control; clearing app storage or uninstalling removes recordings on that installation.
4. Bundled audio and Android text-to-speech
The MP3 option plays Korean recordings bundled with the app; playback does not send lesson text to a developer speech server. You can choose device TTS instead. Missing MP3 recordings and the optional Hangul guide use device TTS.
The app passes lesson text to the installed Android text-to-speech engine to read it aloud. Voices and network requirements depend on the engine and selected voice. Some voices work offline; installing voice data, network voices and provider diagnostics may involve that provider’s services and privacy policy. Practice recordings are not passed to the speech engine.
The installed app does not use a developer Google Cloud TTS, fal.ai or ElevenLabs API key to generate speech. Voice names or development samples are not an indication that those cloud APIs run inside the app.
5. Advertising and privacy choices
The Unity-enabled update includes Unity Ads SDK 4.16.6, Google Mobile Ads SDK 25.5.0 and Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). Both advertising providers are enabled for banner and optional rewarded ads. After the privacy gate, when both SDKs are ready, initial requests are selected approximately 80% for Unity and 20% for Google; a failed load can try the other ready provider once. If only one SDK is ready, only that provider is used. This is request selection, not a guaranteed split of displayed ads. Earlier versions may use Google only. Advertising SDKs and partners can process IP addresses and inferred general location, device or advertising identifiers, interaction data, and diagnostics for advertising, measurement and abuse prevention. The app does not request GPS location, contacts or your photo library.
Consent information is requested through UMP, and the app gates ad initialization using its can-request-ads result. Unity’s developer privacy consent flags are set to false; the app does not assert that you have consented to personalized Unity advertising. A settings entry for advertising privacy choices is shown when UMP requires it. Available forms and choices depend on Google’s configuration and region. Advertising-ID controls are also available in Android settings. A banner pause is not a promise that all SDK processing stops.
An earned optional reward pauses banner ads for two hours; a separate reward unlocks the additional lesson pack offered by the app. Rewards are stored locally, not paid purchases, cash or transferable account entitlements. Reward availability depends on the ad service and successful completion.
Google states that Mobile Ads SDK transmissions use TLS. Data processing and retention by Google and partners follow their policies, and may take place outside your country. See Google Privacy Policy, advertising information, and SDK data disclosure.
Unity and its partners process advertising data under the Unity Game Player and App User Privacy Policy, including its privacy rights and choices. Advertising data can be processed outside your country. Local learning records and microphone recordings are not attached to ad requests by the app.
Unity’s SDK data-safety disclosure also identifies SDK/user identifiers, purchase-history information and ad interactions among its data categories. This does not mean that the app asks for your name, email, bank/card details or offers in-app purchases: the app does not send a developer account profile or purchase events to Unity. SDK advertising and attribution processing is separate from local lesson rewards. Unity’s disclosure describes app-usage timing when its optional Acquire Optimization feature is enabled.
2026-10-28 — In newer versions, verified remote settings can enable or disable advertising providers. Initially Unity is enabled and AdMob is disabled; the 80:20 selection applies only when both are enabled and ready. On foreground entry, at most once every six hours, the app retrieves a signed public settings file over HTTPS from GitHub Pages. This request includes no learning records, recordings or advertising identifiers added by the app; the host receives connection information including your IP address. The last verified settings remain on the device without expiry when offline. Advertising diagnostics are written only to local Android logs and are not uploaded by the app.
6. Android backup and device transfer
Android automatic backup is enabled. The app’s backup rules include its database, shared preferences and settings DataStore. If enabled by your device/account configuration, the operating system may back up learning and settings data using its backup provider. The app excludes the recordings folder from its configured cloud backup, but includes recordings in configured device-to-device transfer. Actual backup/restore behavior depends on Android version, device and provider.
The app does not offer its own cloud synchronization or manual learning-backup export. Cloud backup copies are managed through your device/account’s backup controls, not by the developer. Clearing local storage does not itself guarantee deletion of earlier operating-system backup copies, and restored data may reappear after reinstallation or device transfer.
7. Retention, deletion and security
Local data remains until it is removed through available item controls, replaced, cleared or the app is uninstalled. Unsaving an expression removes its saved-card association; it does not erase completed practice history. To delete local app data, use Android Settings → Apps → Workplace Korean → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall. This also removes local unlocks and settings, subject to later OS restore. Manage backup copies and installed speech data through their respective provider settings.
The developer cannot remotely inspect or erase data stored only on your device. Android private storage is used; this is not a promise of additional end-to-end encryption or protection on a compromised device. Advertising-service data retention/deletion is controlled by those services.
8. Links, sharing, support and audience
Optional Hangul resources, policy pages and voice-provider/download links open separate services. Those services may receive request/device information under their own policies. These documents use GitHub Pages hosting, which can process request information including IP addresses under GitHub’s privacy statement. GitHub Pages is not a learning-record backend.
The introduction-sharing feature gives preset app-introduction text to the app you choose in Android’s share sheet. It does not attach your recordings or learning history. The selected app may transmit your message under its own policy.
If you email support, we receive the address and information you choose to send and use them to answer your request. Do not send passwords or unnecessary private recordings. The app is designed for adult workplace learners, not as a child-directed service. It does not collect an in-app age profile.
9. Contact and updates
For questions, privacy requests or errors, contact davidleepub@gmail.com and identify Workplace Korean. We update this policy’s date when practices change and describe material changes through appropriate app or release information.
