Medical Chinese — Hospital Conversation & Interpreting Practice (the “App”) is a language-learning app. It lets users learn Chinese through Korean or English, or learn Korean through Chinese. The App does not require an account or operate a developer-owned server for learning data.

Information stored on your device

The App stores the following in its app-specific storage on your device:

The developer does not receive these learning records through an App server or have access to recordings stored on your device. The advertising services described below process data separately.

Microphone and recordings

The App requests microphone access only when you choose to start a recording exercise. You can decline the permission and still use vocabulary, conversations, listening, and other non-recording features.

A recording is kept in the App’s internal storage as the latest file for that sentence and practice direction. Re-recording replaces the previous file. You can delete recordings in the App; they are also removed when you reset the relevant learning data or uninstall the App. The App does not upload recordings to a developer server or include them in Android cloud backup or device transfer.

Please avoid recording sensitive personal or patient information.

Text-to-speech

Where a bundled audio file is unavailable, the App uses the Android text-to-speech (TTS) engine selected on your device. The App does not send text for TTS to a developer server. Depending on the engine and voice you select, its provider may process text or other data under that provider’s own privacy policy. You can manage TTS engines and voices in your device settings.

Advertising and third-party data

Versions incorporating Unity Ads

These versions use both Google AdMob and the Unity Ads direct SDK for bottom banners and voluntary rewarded ads. Existing Google disclosures remain applicable to earlier and current versions. The App does not pass learning content, entered text, notes, medical content, recordings or voice to advertising SDKs.

Unity may process or share IP-derived approximate location, device and advertising identifiers, ad interactions and diagnostics for advertising, measurement, analytics, security and fraud prevention. The App sends false for Unity personalized-ad consent; non-personalized advertising still involves SDK data processing. Google UMP permission is not interpreted as Unity personalization consent. Required UMP privacy options remain accessible in settings. The privacy icon in Unity ads provides related privacy and deletion-request information.

An advertising retry deadline is stored locally after network failures. Existing two-hour banner pauses and conversation unlocks retain their previous reward and storage behavior.

The App uses Google AdMob to display banner and optional rewarded ads. According to Google’s Mobile Ads SDK disclosure, Google and its advertising partners may collect or share data such as your IP address, advertising and other device identifiers, app interactions, and diagnostic information for advertising, measurement, analytics, and fraud prevention. This processing is separate from the App’s on-device learning records.

The App uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request consent and show privacy choices where required. When a privacy-options entry is required, it is available in the App’s settings. You can also manage advertising identifiers and permissions through Android settings. The App’s basic learning content remains available without watching rewarded ads.

If you choose to watch a rewarded ad, the App may unlock an additional conversation on your device or hide the banner ad and its space for two hours. The unlock identifier or pause expiration is stored only on your device; it is not an account-based entitlement. Google may process data when the ad is requested or shown, subject to its policies and your applicable choices.

Retention, deletion, and your choices

Learning records, achievements, badges, continue-learning position, rewarded-ad status, settings, and recordings remain in the App’s storage until you delete the relevant data in the App or uninstall it. The App disables Android cloud backup and configures recordings to be excluded from device-to-device transfer. On some Android devices, other App data may still move to a new device, depending on the operating system and manufacturer. Deletion in the App or uninstallation removes data from that device. Resetting all learning data also removes achievements, badge progress, and ad-unlocked conversations; the App warns you before this action. A temporary banner-ad pause is also cleared.

There is no developer account or server-side learning profile to delete. For data processed by Google or your TTS provider, consult their privacy controls and policies. You can withdraw microphone permission in Android settings; you can change ad privacy choices in the App when that option is required and available.

Children and health information

The App is not designed for children. It does not ask you to submit symptoms or medical records to the developer. Do not include identifiable patient or sensitive health information in recordings or notes.

Learning content and panda mascot

Vocabulary, examples, dialogues, interpreting exercises, and the panda’s messages and illustrations are for general language learning and learner engagement. Panda messages are not personalized to your health or circumstances. They are not medical information guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or current; nor are they medical judgment, diagnosis, prescriptions, treatment recommendations, emergency instructions, or professional interpreting advice.

Expressions can vary by region, institution, clinical context, and staff member. Do not rely solely on the App for decisions about actual care, medication, surgery, consent, emergencies, rights, or costs. Confirm such matters with qualified healthcare professionals, the relevant institution, and a professional interpreter where appropriate. If you suspect an urgent or dangerous condition, contact local emergency services or a medical institution immediately.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for indirect or incidental loss arising from using learning examples for real medical or interpreting decisions. This does not exclude liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

Changes and contact

We will update this page and its “Last updated” date if App features, advertising services, or relevant practices change. For privacy questions, contact the developer through the public policy repository’s issue page.
